A gallery of functional yet decorative pottery by Chris Troy. In the mid 1990's Chris found herself at one of those maddening crossroads of life. Her "Chosen Path" of business management came to an end due to downsizing, and her newly found passion for clay handling placed increased demands on her time and energy. The "Path Less Taken" was made easier for her with support from family and friends. Chris creates objects from clay with the textures, shapes and forms of the natural landscapes surrounding her home-based studio. She sees herself as a handler of clay, one who is a partner in the passage of the clay through its life stages. She expects to always derive pleasure from the touch of a pot and from the comfort of its surface. She currently works in mid-range stoneware, firing her pieces to 2150 F in an electric kiln. She incorporates hand build elements in and on wheel thrown forms. Functionality is important in her life and her choice of forms reflects this.
