 | Racing the Squall...as seen above. A small fishing boat plows through choppy waters heading for the safety of home port as an afternoon storm rolls in over the horizon.
As a menacing chill breeze whistles through the damp nets and rigging, an escort of scavenging seagulls nonchalantly dine in the turbulent wake of the "Hoot Owl". 950 Signed/Numbered.

| | | Breezy Monday Nothing smells as sweet and clean as laundry dried in Mother Natures winds.
In Gerald Bienvenu's "Breezy Monday", a city dweller substitutes porch columns for a stand of birch trees, and for a brief moment there is a flood of warmth and emotion, and for some of us, fond memories. 950 Signed/Numbered.

| | | First Light A small fleet of fishing and oyster boats stands ready for whatever the new day might bring.
As the rising sun paints a brilliant sky a flock of seagulls noisily begins another day of foraging and feeding, and the only other sound is the gentle, lapping of small waves against the boats. 950 Signed/Numbered.

| | | Southern Splendor Connected by a rambling network of piers, a pair of weathered frame dwellings nestle in the midst of blooming Azalea and climbing Wisteria.
The tranquility of "Southern Splendor" captures the majesty of the South's vast cypress swamps and makes it easier to understand why they are today inhabited by both year-round and weekend reclusive. 950 Signed/Numbered.

| | | Country Bridge Located in Hancock county, Mississippi, this bridge was once a part of old highway 90 that runs between Bay St. Louis and New Orleans. No longer used, the old bridge stands ready to host local
fishermen as a beautiful Fall day bathes evertything in sunlight. This is a signed Giclee print reproduced by the artist, in his studio.

| | | BEASLEY'S GROCERY has a wonderful charm about it that just seems to
say..."come on in...we're here waiting for you". It did, the day Gerald
Bienvenu and his wife stopped to get a tank of gas, and wound up getting
a subject for a future watercolor. Beasley's welcomes all travelers in
the same friendly way, whichever way it is... that you need... at that moment in time. Item # NOLA-07-07...signed giclee...16 1/4" x 22"...$58.25 Add to Shopping Cart

| | | GUARDING HELENE is just what the small dog seemed to be doing the day
Gerald Bienvenu visited this plantation just south of Baton Rouge, La.
Although he wasn't real agressive, Gerald says he did rise up on his
hind legs once and almost moved toward him before resuming his position
on the cool brick varanda.

| | | THE BILOXI LIGHTHOUSE seems to represent that era when a ship's captain
always felt the warmth of that steady light. Gerald Bienvenu also felt
that those oak trees just belonged with the old lighthouse, so he simply
left them in the painting.

| | | REGULAR AND UNLEADED is what they sell a lot of on the rural state roads of Mississippi, where artist Gerald Bienvenu snapped the photograph that later became an original watercolor. This popular place is in Natchez,Mississippi, and still looks about like it did back then, gas pumps and all. Item # NOLA-07-10...signed giclee...14 1/2" x 21 1/2"...$58.25 Add to Shopping Cart

| | | SOUTHERN EXPOSURE captures the elegance and romance of the old south, just as did the motion picture, "Gone With the Wind". Gerald
Bienvenu's version of "Oak Alley" plantation in Vacherie, Louisiana, has come to represent the fine, well-defined character of the Southern Castles, better than Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler ever could. Item # NOLA-07-11...signed giclee...15" x 21"...$58.25 Add to Shopping Cart

| | | About the Artist A native of New Orleans, Gerald Bienvenu began painting watercolors in the early 60's. Gerald is a realist painter, and over the years has developed a way of working from his own photography. His routine includes regular field trips with camera and sketchpad, recording scenes and impressions that will become watercolors. Back in the studio there is time to sort through the color slides, selecting the correct vision of the subject, while considering such things as composition, lighting, color values, and the overall approach that will create a painting. Once the image has been transferred to a sheet of heavy watercolor board or paper, he works quickly to establish those wet washes of skies and fields that have become a hallmark of the artist.
